Tesco Ireland launched the two year extension of our charity partnership with a ‘Get on your feet for Temple Street’ fun filled activity day.
The announcement of the two year partnership was kick started by Tesco employees from all stores nationwide organising skipathons, cyclothons and treadmill runs which resulted in raising an amazing €90,000 for the little patients of Temple Street.
‘Get on Your Feet for Temple Street’ also marked the additional €2 million fundraising initiative to purchase further lifesaving equipment for the hospital. First launched in October 2014, the initial two year partnership has now been extended to five years until the end of 2019.
To date, with the support of its colleagues and customers Tesco Ireland has raised over €3 million in support of our hospital, the funds are used to purchase vital life-saving equipment for the hospitals theatres, wards, laboratories and intensive care unit.
Speaking about the success of this partnership to date, Denise Fitzgerald, Chief Executive, Temple Street Foundation, commented: “The vital equipment purchased with funds raised by Tesco staff has had such a positive and powerful impact on staff, patients and their families – we see this every day across the hospital. This life-saving equipment simply couldn’t be purchased without this support so thank-you for going the extra mile each and every day to raise funds for the little patients in our hospital; it is greatly appreciated. Our relationship with Tesco has gone from strength to strength over the last three years and we’re very excited to continue our partnership for the next two years.”
Christine Heffernan, Corporate Affairs Director Tesco Ireland, said: “We are delighted to continue our Charity Partnership with Temple Street Children’s Hospital. The €90,000 raised by our colleagues will go towards our goal of raising €5 million in 5 years for the children’s hospital. The success of the partnership since 2014 has provided vital funds towards life-saving equipment for children here and across Ireland and we thank our colleagues and customers who have been so supportive of our campaign”.
