‘Lemonade & Lollipop’ stands will be popping up in Tesco stores across the country this weekend in a bid to raise vital funds for our special hospital.
On Saturday 8th August, Tesco customers are invited to enjoy a cup of lemonade and a lollipop in their local Tesco store between 11am – 5pm in return for a small donation. To date, Tesco has helped purchase over €550,000 worth of equipment including €50,000 worth of respiratory equipment for the neonatal ward, six patient monitors for theatre recovery worth over €120,000, and four anaesthetic patient monitors for intensive care costing over €100,000. The Lemonade & Lollipops event aims to raise €100,000 to buy equipment that will be of significant benefit in cleft palate and speech operations, helping change the lives of thousands of little patients across the country.
One of Temple Street’s little patients, Ria Byrne (age 6) from Boyle, Co. Roscommon was on hand to help launch the Lemonade & Lollipops fundraiser. Ria went through complex brain and spinal cord surgery on 21 July. The 6 year old has a long road ahead of her and the possibility of more surgery, but the family from Boyle are remaining positive that Ria is in good hands in Temple Street.
“The team at Temple Street are fantastic with Ria but also with us and other parents, showing constant support through something that you have little control over. So, I am calling on everyone across the country to get down to their local Tesco store this Saturday and support this great fundraiser which will help hundreds of little patients like Ria.”
The ‘Lemonade & Lollipops’ Event will take place in all 149 Tesco stores on Saturday, 8 August, between 11am and 5pm with 100% of funds raised on the day going to Temple Street, Tesco’s Charity of the Year.
