It was a sweet success for Tesco colleagues on Saturday 8th August as their nationwide ‘Lemonade & Lollipops’ event raised over €80,000 in just six hours for our special hospital. Customers were invited to enjoy a cup of lemonade and a lollipop in their local Tesco store in return for a donation.
All 149 Tesco stores across the country took part in the national fundraiser which will support the purchase of medical equipment that will be of significant benefit in cleft palate and speech operations, helping change the lives of thousands of patients across the country. Tesco’s ‘Lemonade & Lollipops’ event brings Tesco’s fundraising total for Temple Street, its Charity Partner of the Year, to over €900,000 since launching in October 2014.
Denise Fitzgerald, CEO Temple Street Foundation, said: “On behalf of all the patients in Temple Street I would like to say a huge thank you to the customers and Tesco colleagues who helped make the Lemonade & Lollipops fundraising event for Temple Street such a huge success. The support we are receiving from Tesco colleagues and customers is amazing and is a lifeline for so many of our little patients. Thanks to the success of Lemonade & Lollipops we will be able to buy a state of the art microscope for our Cleft Lip and Palate team, significantly aiding some of the 7,000 surgeries we perform each year in Temple Street.”
