In January 2010 Citi, the leading global financial services company, announced that Temple Street Children's University Hospital would be their chosen charity partner for the year. During this partnership Citi employees raised a fantastic €60,000 to purchase an incubator for the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
Denise Fitzgerald, CEO of the Fundraising Office at CUH said; "We were absolutely delighted to have been awarded the Citi charity partnership for 2010. Giraffe Omnibed incubators are life-saving neonatal incubators which are used in the care of some of our most vulnerable patients. These units cost approximately €50,000. On behalf of the children, parents and staff at Temple Street, I would like to thank Citi staff for the wonderful support they have given to our Hospital".
Citi employees committed to raise funds for Temple Street through a number of staff initiatives and various fundraising events. Such events included the Dublin Docklands Run and Women's Mini Marathon to staff volunteering to collect for the charity's Trick or Treat for Temple Street campaign. A favourite initiative amongst staff was to sign up to work in Temple Street's Fundraising Office one day a week.
Sinead Henshaw, Chairperson, Citi's Community Affairs Group said "Citi is very proud of the commitment by our employees to raise money for Temple Street Children's Hospital. Employees wanted to make a difference by raising money for a life saving piece of equipment for the hospital. We hope that this incubator will benefit the medical team at the hospital and the families whose children are under their care."
