What is the Alcatraz Swim Challenge for Temple Street?
Swimming from Alcatraz Prison was once thought impossible. However brave swimmers for the last 20 years have been proving that those escapees probably made it!
For accomplished swimmers, the challenge begins with a 1.5 mile swim crossing cold, tidal waters and is followed by a 7 mile run over the Golden Gate Bridge...a true 'Splash & Dash' which probably mirrors what an escapee might do...swim like mad and run for your life!
The Alcatraz Swimming Challenge allows racers to experience two of San Fransico's preeminent landmarks - Alcatraz Prison and the Golden Gate Bridge up close and personal. This truly is a unique fundraising challenge to raise vital funds for Temple Street Childrens Hospital.
Not sure if you can Run and Swim? Don't worry as well as the Aquathon (Swimming & Run) there is a choice of Swim only challenge (separate start) or relay challenge.
